I got out the other day on American lake, wind was bad 2-3 foot white caps. Did not really do a heck of a lot of fishing was just getting the boat out after her spring tune up. I will start hitting the smaller lakes next week sometime.

Good luck to you out there..

A buddy of mine and I went to Roosevelt on Saturday to pre-fish for tourney this coming weekend.  We didn't put one bass in the boat.  Water temps were frigid, 39-42 degrees and ultra clear.  I threw everything I could think of.  Dropshots, big jigs, small jigs, lipless cranks, tubes, etc.  We just could not locate fish.  I did catch my first couple fish of the year, a pair of 18" rainbows dropshotting a Zoom 4" worm in smokin' shad color.  If this trip is an indication of what's to come in a few days, it's going to be a very long and tough tournament.

Were you marking any fish?

They are hitting, a little prespawn action. My dad and bro fished the banks lake open last weekend and placed 23 out of 45 or so boats, not bad ,but I thought they would do better. They caught a lot if fish but mostly shakers. They couldnt get very many tourney fish in the boat.

I see they have changed the regs, on all lakes starting april 1st speed limits are not to excede 10mph..Studies at wsu and Isu and oicu812 shows it disturbs the beds during the spawn, and erodes the shoreline..These were articles written by Stu padaz

We stayed in the same campsite as the guys fishing that tournament.  Water temps were approaching 50 in some of the bays at Banks.  Heck of a lot warmer than the 39 degrees we saw.  Winning bag for that tournament was 14.99 lbs I think.  Our winner had 14.71 on the first day.
