Thanks, there have been more but in the past I never always carried a camera, now I have one that stays in the pack all the time.

Nice photos. Looks like you had a double lung pass through shot on the hanging elk...nice shooting!
One shot, one Deer. Two shots, maybe one Deer. Three shots, no Deer

nice pics.  I have to ask is there a reason to split the elk in two peices like that in the last picture.  I've seen it done by other people too dint know the reason behind it

I see the one was with a recurve!  Cool!  How many were taken that way?  All westside elk?  Any pointers (are you calling them in or stalking, still hunting, etc?)  Can't argue with your experiences!

When we can get an elk out whole, we like to hang it on the rack so we can do a really clean job of skinning them out and getting them cooled off as fast as possible. That's why we cut them down the middle like that. We will then rinse them out real good, dry them off cut them into quarters and get them into the cooler as soon as possible. One of the guys we hunt with is a retired meat cutter and also the one who does the butchering for us so he has tough us how to take really good care of the animal and to keep it as clean as possible so when he cuts it, it comes out nice and clean. The cow with the recurve is the only elk I have killed with a recurve but some day I would like to hunt with one again. I prefer to call them in, but spot and stalk works well along with sitting on a stand on well used trails and feeding areas.
