I am sure it depends on the taxidermist/size of bear. One on board here will chime in im sure.

It does depend on the size of the bear mostly. And of course the taxidermist.

I start at 3000.00. That would include a basic habitat built for it.

So with that being said if it was a large grizz and there werer going to have to be a lot of modifications then it would be more.

$5000.00 through me, just way too much work on a grizz, and alwayshave  mods. Sorry Joe but that is way too cheap man     Heck the form is going to cost $1000.00 give or take a couple hundred  plus shipping 

If it was a small bear the price would be cheaper. Id say a small bear will go around $4000.00 

Extreme pose Mods will jack the price up, cabinet is extra if you want one and not cheap. OPen mouth is extra. Habitat beyond simple is going to cost more money too. It really depends on what kind of mount you will be looking for. You can shoot for the moon or just go simple.

Grizzly start at $5000 and Kodiak Brown's start at $5500. Base is extra and can be as cheap as $300 and go as high as you want to spend. Like Charlie said. A lot of work.

Good luck on your hunt, its one that is on my bucket list for sure. Dont know if I will be ablke to afford to go anytime real soon but hope to one day. Those Grizz are amazing critters! Keep us posted how you two do and take lots of pictures!

I really don't think it is to cheap.

I do however understand different cicumstances. You do this for a living I do it for a supplement to my retirement.

I did say if it was a larger bear and there was more than a standard base being requested, then I would charge more.

But knowing the difference between an interior, coastal and Kodiak bear. I would start off at the 3000.00 an go from there. It is a starting price.

Meaning if it is a 7 foot bear, wether it be a blackie, interior, coastal, kodiak, polar, panda, or a sunbear there will be modifications on anyone of those. I could not see charging any extra just because it is a different species of bear. Bottom line it is still a 7 foot bear.

On grizz/brown bear rugs I am 150.00 a foot, double padded, double felt and all sewn. So a 7 ft bear would be 1050.00 +tax.   So 3-5k on a rug is either one big bear or a real over the wall price on linear foot.

Id budget 3k for a brown bear rug...  150-250 ft ( I paid 250), fleshing out, skinning of pads, cleaning of skull, open mouth...it adds up. Trust me Ive paid the bill.  Im glad some of our taxi's on the board are reasonably priced...some are much more.

Also If you have a family member guide its no more money than any other out of state hunt.. the tag is only $500

So let me get this straight just because you think someone can afford to go on a Grizzly hunt that is justification to charge them out the ying yang for their animal? So what if a guy saves up for 10 years to get a Grizzly hunt; now he has to save even longer to for the taxidermy bill. What I don't get is most everyones starting price for a full sized black bear mount is $2,500.00 but yet a Grizzly starts out at $5,000.00.  The average Interior Grizzly is 6-7'. Now a larger size Black Bear is in the same range but won't cost me the same; so just because it's a Grizzly we charge double. Sounds kinda crappy to me... kinda reminds me of the Washington Fish and Game... out to make a buck.
