Very low recoil, very comfortable to shoot.
So I'm the proud new owner of an unfired Ruger m77 in 7x57 mauser. I will pick it up on monday. If there ever was a caliber I couldn't possibly know anything less about, this is it. I was told it's a great caliber and I've been doing some reading on it a little and it seems like it is a good one. If anybody's got any input on it or suggestions for replacing the skeleton or "boat paddle" stock it's got on it I'm all ears. It seemed to be a good deal so I jumped on it. Thanks
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.
7x57 is in the ballpark of the 7mm-08, the only "drawback" is that it won't fit a short action(if you're one of those picky types). the upside is that once you get into the heavier bullets(160gr and up) it'll sling them better than the 7-08. factory ammo seems a little limited.
