 This from Bob's;

2/9/08 8:00 AM:  We observed a few dippers with no smelt from Lexington to Gerhart Gardens.

2/8/08:  The prospects for smelt in the Cowlitz River for Saturday 2/9/08 looks bleak!  See the WDFW report below.  We have not seen any encouraging signs either.  We will drive the Cowlitz River Saturday morning and post here at about 8:30 AM.

They did a updated creel survey and the test dipping on the cowliz was 3 to 4 fish per dip go to the game and fish website.

From the Department of PoorlymanagedFishandWildlife's Website:

Cowlitz River:
Sport:
WDFW test dipping on Wednesday, February 13th, produced 15 smelt in 12 dips (up to 3 fish per dip) at Gerhart Landing. There was a mix of sizes. No smelt were caught at other locations further upstream.

Personally, I think i will wait a bit....untill at least 50 per dip....like it used to be...
