skunked>>>Revived to a double!!
« on: April 15, 2010, 03:51:38 PM »
I am sittin out in the field mobile connection. I had a jake and 8 hens come in to ten yards. I almost shot the jake but I saw 3 full strut long beards hung up at 60 yards. I held off waiting for the toms to come in. NO LUCK. I have been playing ring around the property for the last few hours. Most of the toms are henned up.I will keep everyone posted.

The jake encounter was this am. There is a dog barking right now. Maybe he will turn some turkeys my way.

Back to the hotel.  Just left Ridgerats house.  I have to say thanks for helping me clean them but more importantly, thanks for the hospitality.  This world could use a few more people like you Ridge.

I have lots more pics.  It was a great day of turkey hunting. I hope you all enjoyed the TWITTER Turkey hunt.  I promise you that was all in real time.  It was all I could do to stay awake in the hillls.  I will post more pics and the whole story when I get back to "the coast" .

Happy turkey hunting to the rest of you.  I am going to celebrate with a nice cold one at the hotel bar.

It sure wasn't the skill of a hawkeye.  Spring football has begun.  I bet the broncos are preparing for their one tough game of the year.  LOL  Just kidding.   :chuckle:

Just ate three drumsticks and the thighs last night.  Cooked them in the crock pot.  Feels like I am chewing on a rubber band ball.  Tastey, but chewy.

I soak them in salt water overnight, and then in milk for another night, regardless of how I am cooking them.  Most times I just make jerky.
