Read bearpaws recent post in the sponsor forum.  Sounds like it would be right up your alley.

Welcome to the site, hope you get some success early on in your hunting career.

You can't be discouraged this early on though, many stories here and in the hunting mags about folks that go many years without harvesting any game.

Its all about the total experience.

 :yeah:
Give it another week or two and most all hens will be setting the nest....than they tripoveer thmselves trying to be the first one to you..... 8)  Sometimes. But IMO May is better to hunt in than April, just because of that.

70% to 75% of the state harvest happens in the NE corner of the state follwed by Blues approx 14%, Klickitat 7%, mid-East slope of the Cascades about 3+%, and NE slopes of the Cascades 4+% ... over on the Wetside about 1+%.

For my money, back to the NE corner ....

I had just about an identical situation last year, except I'm older than you.  I didn't end up getting any birds in the spring, but I had a pretty good time watching a bunch of hens hang out with my decoys for an hour.  Hunted by myself for about a week, really enjoyed that because I was fully accountable for success and failure.  It seems I learned from that faster.

Keep at it.  I got a Rio and a Merriam's in the fall.
Colville.
