tru glo globe front sight and rear ghost ring
« on: May 12, 2010, 01:57:49 PM »
has any one ever used one of these on a bighorn or a tc. was looking at trying one on my bighorn. any problems with the screws aligning with the holes. seems like a cool sight i looked at cabelas it does not come up on there website. cheaper than dirt carries them. the front globe probably gives a good sight picture but i have not had a chance to look at one. need input if you have used this sight on your smokepole.  thanks

yes i have them on both my muzzleloaders we had a thread going about them right before muzzle season this year. i love them the 2 fiber optics in the rear ghost ring make lining up the fron pin very fast and gives you another reference point instead of just a pin in the front and a black hole in the back i used to run the williams on my t/c and cva but bought one for the t/c and  my groups realy shrank at longer ranges so now i have one on both. buy one you will love it also the front pin is smaller then most standard front pins and does not take up so much of the animal at 90+ yards like most and it is super bright and comes with a shade you can adjust the brightness. i took it off on mine because it seems always glomy when the smoke pole season roles around :chuckle:

That's the TG958G.  They also have the TG958X that is similar but seems to have the standard pin on the front rather than the globe, but both have the ghost ring in back.  Actually if I am looking at it correctly the X model has interchangeable sights on the back so you can switch between standard two-pin or ghost ring.

So you prefer the the G series with the globe versus the pin in the front then?

yep i just walked up and checked on the empty package and they both are the tg958g those are what i have on both my guns and love and will use nothing else. i like the globe because it helps foucus in on a smaller part of the animal instead of just a pin on the whole animals chest and if you are lucky it will block out the horns "depending on the range and size of the rack :chuckle:" and like i said the 2 extra spots "pins" in the ghost ring makes it very nice.

maybe i will throw one of mine in if i can make it up to the gathering this year for you rasbo. and yes your t/c will love it mine does and my elkhorn does.

I tried a Lyman peep last year but I didn't get the groups I would have liked.  Probably just need to spend more time practicing than anything.

yeah i went from williams to the truglo and my groups shrank by about 40% i was amazed the extra reference points and smaller pin in the front and the globe front and brightness of the pin all made for a better sight, then what i was using. i hated trying to concentrate on centering the pin on the williams in the middle of a black hole when you should be looking at the front sight and at ranges past about 80 yards if that pin is not centered it can make a big diffrence with the 2 pins in the back on the ghost it makes for a quick reference and then faster foucus on the front sight. that is what has helped me the most and it is nice when you are looking threw the sights and the front pin does not take up the whole animal at 100 yards :yike: not very pin point to me and i hated that now i can look at a smaller area on the deer out to about 140-150 compared to about 80-90 with the standard front sight on the black diamond

Sounds like the same problem I was having.  I think I will buy one of these and if I like it I will buy a couple more for my other muzzleloaders.
