redtail hawk
« on: May 16, 2010, 12:07:48 PM »
I was leaving my office last Sunday and noticed a hawk sitting in the ditch between our parking lot and the main road, I stopped and he slowly flew to a tree about 50' away and tried to land in it. he was so weak he couldn't hold onto the branch where he landed and hung upside down from 1 claw for a bit and then let go and turned over and grabbed a branch underneath himself. I took my camera and got these shots and some other not-so-good ones. meanwhile the crows who I assume gave this hawk an ass-whooping were squawking and caryying on in the trees surrounding us. I checked on him later that evening and he was gone so I don't know his fate. Some who have seen my pics liked 'em so I thouhgt I'd share here.

Nice shots. Looks like that left wing may be injured.

I love redtailed hawks. I grew up in Utah and they were quite common and beautiful in flight.
It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.
