New Pistol

Hello everyone, I am thinking about getting the new Beretta PX4 storm in 45 cal. I was wondering if any of you have one of these or heard anything (good/bad). I am debating between the Beretta, the springfield XDM and the HK45C. Any advise would be great.

All I know is that I love my Xdm. I don' know anthing else about the others.... You may wish to search for the XD thread....it havd rave reviews in it from many members here...

well i have a friend who has a storm it is a good pistol....has a rotating barrel so it is a moving piece which i personnely dont like..

Springfield XD or XDM for several years running was NRA gun of the year...great price for a quality pistol that you can trust over and over....

HK is expensive, good, reliable as a springfield...and well not sure if someone would say its higher quality...but its more expensive and is known for killing stuff....lol....

My opinion...research...go out and feel it in your hand...if you can shoot all of them...and get a side holster..fell it next to your side...and pick the one you like in your hand the most...

basically my opinion on the last several years productions...regardless of maker, everyone is putting out a competative quality product...all with there positive and negatives...so when it really comes down to it...as long as you stick to a name..like baretta, springfield, or HK...you will get a reliable weapon that will shoot, or i should say FIRE everytime you ask it to...match it with good ammo and you will have a tool to be wreckend with.

but my opinion..you will soon hear more...lol...good luck with your search...

there is another thread about the xd/xdm you should check it out great great gun love mine and going to probably be picking up another in a few weeks. my cousin by marriage just had his sister get one in 40 and she likes it i have a berreta cx4 storn the carbine rifle in 40 and it is great love it. but as far as a handgun the xdm is the one i trust my life to the most

I have heard good things about the Beretta, and have experienced the XDM (9mm ver) which is a good gun and reminds me of a Glock.  I use to own a HK45C but didn't like it because that particular gun had a weird uneven pull and didn't have tritium sights (but HKs are generally ironclad and I have a few).  Not sure if the Beretta or XDM have tritium sights but I highly recommend upgraded sights.  A lot of people don't like 45s in short barrel lengths (velocity) and I am in that camp, but you choose what you are confident in.

XD's and XD(m)'s are great, reliable pistols with a long mushy trigger, Beretta PX4's have a rotating barrel that can be prone to jamming problems, Hk's are fantastically well built, superbly accurate and reliable pistols with a GREAT trigger. You might also have a look/shoot a Sig P220, easily a match for Hk in quality, accuracy and reliability. If those are too costly you might also look at the Bersa thunder 45.

yeah that is what i thought when i first shot a xd was a slow long trigger pull but when the xmd came out with the match trigger i thought it made it much much better that was the only prob i had with the first xds other then that they were perfect when the xdm came out i was sold watch out 3.8 i am coming for you also the xmd 45 is due out this year. and i hope crimson trace gets there but in gear and gets a laser out for the xdms

Once you start shooting Sigs and/or Hk's it's tough to go back to anything else, I'm definitely a fan of Sig's all-metal pistols.

I own an XD(m) 9mm, it has a match barrel but the same trigger as any other XD, the parts are all inter-changeable, don't get me wrong as the pistol is awesome, it gobbles ammo like feeding skittles to a fat chick! Mine has no failures in approximately 3k rounds. If you want to try a good trigger in a very accurate gun and are local I would be happy to let you try my P226.

i thought it was match barrel and trigger they put in the new xdm  and then they changed one other thing besides the amount of ammo in the gun. maybe the side cuts i did not think it was the same trigger as in the xd but i am not 100% i know the parts can interchange but i thought it was diffrent now i am going to have to look and see.

The XD(m) does have a match barrel but the trigger is just their standard XD trigger, measure the travel of the trigger after take-up to sear release and it's about 3/8-1/2 an inch...A match trigger should have no little or no perceptible movement after take-up to the point of sear release, nothing to measure.

Handguns are personal try them yourself. I had Sigs, hate em, H&K hate it too. Had Glocks they work, but not for  me. I find the XD's OK but not much better. The Beretta 92 is a club, Browning hi-power is a good gun.
In the end for me it has to be a 1911, there are several good ones.

The only reason I thought that is because the salesguy told me that.
 
He apparently needs some educating.
Maybe Springfield says it does but it really doesn't?
