yeah i am with jackelope, i was just looking around and it says match trigger and barrel. but would be cool to know if it true i know i have shot mine side by side with a plain xd and my trigger is way less travel and smoother    but intresting point fc now you have my mind wandering i still love mine and will be buying another one as well and going to get my buddy and brother to get one as well.

I got told the very same thing but there is no documentation in the box the pistol came in or that I can find on Springfield's site. That put together with having some experience with match triggers tells the rest of the tale. I haven't done a trigger job on mine yet but will soon as it's currently the worst trigger I own, even my spr453 has a better trigger!

 Those who think I might be talking down about Springfield's poly pistols, I really am not! My XD(m) is an incredibly reliable handgun with about 3k down the pipe with no failures using every brand, projectile weight and velocity that I have been able to find for it BUT it is hard to learn how to shoot it well as trigger squeeze just ain't happening, controlled mash while holding it on target is the only way to shoot it semi-accurately. The take-up isn't what bugs me, it's the 3/8+ of an inch of travel AFTER the take-up. No match trigger will have that.

yeah i agree, i wonder if you have a bad trigger spring or somthing my travel on my xmd 40 is about 1/4" you might have somthing that is not right that is causing it to travel more to engage the firing pin just a thought

No nothing broken in it, pretty much the same as any other Xd or XD(m) that I have shot. They all vary within a range just like anything else but they all have a long trigger pull. I think it's kind of dumb that they don't have better triggers in them to begin with as there can't be much of a cost difference with the main parts being replaced would be sear, striker and trigger disconnector. What area are you in Carpsniperg2? I would be interested to do a trigger job on mine and be able to compare it back to back with an un-modified pistol, with all of this talk about it I'll order up the parts for mine next week! I'm in Mukilteo btw.

Thanks everyone. The only reason that turns me off to the XDM is the grip safety. I hate it, that is why I will never buy a 1911. Is there a way to disengage the grip safety?

yeah i didn't think i would like it but were it is located it is not bad at all and i don't even notice it now and when carrying it full time i like the extra insurance of the grip safety and one last i don't have to worry about when i draw my gun. i hate when i have to flip a switch to fire a gun. and yes you can but i would not recommend it at all.

The thing that is the biggest PITA is it takes two hands to De-cock it and it seems like a nuisance

@LazyLab, yes you can disarm the grip safety on an XD(m) but it's not adviseable, the grip safety actuates the sear block leaving the striker safety only and the pistol not entirely drop safe. Try a Sig out and see if you like it, there is no safety switch, just chamber a round and de-cock the pistol, first shot is double action and subsequent shots are single action.
