Solduc river crome
« on: February 24, 2008, 09:46:07 PM »
Took my dad on a fishing trip over to forks for his birthday, and retirement celebration.  We were float fishing.  Right out of the gate he missed two fish back to back.  Then it was nothing for about 2 hours then I hooked up with a nice crome hen, after landing her I threw back in looking for the lonesome buck and sure enough he slames me I set the hook and the battles on.  He ripes line from my Curado, goes airbourne twice and screams up stream, wraps me in a stick and thats all she wrote with 8lb test.  The buck was in the high teens, would of been nice to get my hands on him.  About 2 hours later my dad hooks into another one sets the hook and starts reeling like crazy, he didnt relize the line was wraped around the tip and all he was doing was reeling against the drag, needless to say the fish threw the hook after being slack lined for so long.  All in all it was a fun trip and great weather.  Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Ya, we were in a raft.  It was great makes me want to get one, they are pretty forgiving compared to a drift boat.  The guide was carl wiendle, he knows the river well!

Too bad you didn't get a picture of the inside of the Wendles shop.  The guys here would enjoy seeing that antler collection.  I have fished with Sam, Sam Jr., and Carl.  They are a nice family and have been in that area for a long time.  All three know the rivers in that area really well.  Congrats on the beautiful fish.  It sounds like you had a great time.

I was wondering how you guys  did. Did your  guide change his mind about the Callawah? Regardless, glad to see you guys hooked up with a few fish. No matter what river in Forks you fish, your going to see the brightest chromers of any other NW rivers IMO. Looks like you had fun. When you get a chance to shoot that rifle, let me know how you like it.
