We have the beartrap in our 300;s and it makes a big difference in recoil.

Click on google and put beartrap recoil reducer and it will show you what they are. We had 338;s that were identical and one had a beartrap one did;nt and there was a huge difference. I just don;t like muzzle breaks I know they work and have had them but the noise and blow back of dirt bothers me more than recoil.

I'll check out the Beartrap thing and see what it is.  I had a Muzzlebrake on a .300 Win Mag I used to own.  It did a good job with the recoil, but I just about went deaf shooting it.

I had Dave at harbor gun do ours it;s like the brake probley not for everyone but we like them. It just goes in the stock and is epocyed in. Lot of trap shooters who shoot the money shoots with big loads use them or put shot in a garden hose and put them in the butt to lessen the recoil it all helps.

OK, I googled it, but can't find anything useful.  I found a forum that talked about them (removing some hexnut or something), a gunsmith that offered to install one for $95, and a website that had all kinds of recoil reducers, but nothing by beartrap.  Evidently, Bear Trap doesn't have their own website (?) :dunno:  WHat exactly are they?  I even tried to Google Image it, but just came up with thumbnails of (you guessed it)...bears... and traps...

It;s a mercury switch that they put inside the butt of the gun. It looks like a little co2 cylinder they just remove the butt pad and epoxy it in and put the pad back on. I have a 300 ultra mag that had the plastic stock that had a bad recoil and Dave put one in and it;s nice to shoot now.

Sounds great.  How the hell do you find/buy one?

Very cool.  I added it to my list of "stuff to buy" (along with a Chuckler Bugle, a new spotting scope, new rain gear, new broadheads, some Kennetrek Boots...well, you get the idea... it's a long list.... :chuckle: )
