My Third Homebrew
« on: June 01, 2010, 09:25:41 AM »
I just finished my third homebrew camera!  I love this stuff, but it's getting addicting (and expensive at $100 each).  This camera's specs are as follows:
Sony W-80 7.2 Megapixel with IR modification
WalMart Large waterproof box
Vivitar 2800 external flash
Bigfoot Outdoors Slavemaster slave controller
Snapshot Sniper's Simple Sniper Board
HPWA (High Performance Wide Angle) fresnel
3C batteries for camera power
4C batteries for flash power
Infrared material over both camera flash and slave flash
Start to finish build time: about 10 hours over 3 days
The camera seems to be working well in testing in the shop, so we'll see how it does in the field in the next few weeks.

Are you going with an external battery?

Not outside the box.  There are 3 C batteries in there that are externals for the camera.  Guys online say that it should be good for 9 months to a year, so the memory card is the limitation.

I'm taking it out today to see what it can do.  Or more like see what I need to fix.  The second one I made is identical, but it has the white flash instead of infrared.  It's out at my buddies food plot, and he says it's taking awesome pictures.  I'll post a few when he gets the card back to me.
