has anyone used this filter?

so me and a couple of friends are going to go on a camping trip in a month or so that will require us to hike in a good 2-3 hours to get to the lake that we are going to camp at.  i was looking through the water filtration systems that cabelas have and was wondering if anyone has used this one and if it works well?  i have a 50 dollar gift card to cabelas so i would like to buy this there as they tend to be expencive. any advise would be greatly appreciated

The one you are looking at may be good, but it is one bottle only. If you are hiking with a group, I think you be be better off with a filter capable of filling multiple water bottles.
I have this one, check it out. Works great, very light and attaches to bottle top.
MSR Hyperflow. The cabelas price is too good to pass up. If that is right I may buy another.

A little more expensive, but worth it. I have used numerous different ones, in Panama, Thailand, Alaska and other places, this one is one of the simplest. No pumping, no sucking just a little bit of stirring.

Double check that Doom. I clicked on it to order and It is listed as the filter replacement. I think they have it mis-labeled. You could call them to see. I still like the filter, but I have a hard time thinking it would be that cheap.

ya i was just looking closer at it. it was the "gravity kit" that i saw that was that cheap, when i went to order it not the pump micro-filter thats in the picture. not sure if that would work as well but im with u, i think they have it mislabled or something

I've never needed it but allways carry on a backpack trip and recomend everyone else do the same.
A back up water purifier of some sort. That is a great idea. I always figured boiling would be my backup, but this would add no wt and be good to have on hand. Thanks for the idea.

All the pump type filters I've used have been plastic and I just figure I'm going to brake one eventually.

I use the gravity one and found it very good and simple to use.
