newbie help
« on: June 25, 2010, 09:05:32 AM »
I have been thinking of getting into use of a trail cam, and would appreciate any advice you would be willing to share.  I am in SW WA, and have some timber property in OR that It would fun to see what wanders by.

thanks

Hey Carlz,

Welcome to the site. I am no expert...still a newbie...but I have a few tips...

1. Make sure to situate the camera so it will not be facing direct sunlight...ie sunrise, sunset.

2. Have the camera about 2-3ft off the ground (some others my suggest different heights). Originally, I would place it at about 5 ft, which was too high.

3. Lock it up. People's cameras walk off all the time, even on private property.

4. Some people use mineral blocks....I havent used any yet for pics...so this is kind of up to you, if you want to place something like that down.

Other than that, have fun with it.

Looking forward to hearing some of your stories/pics.
