This thread got me thinking about the rest of my products. I started looking at my tags to see where things were built. I could not believe what I found! Sitka, Badland packs, SOG knive :(, just to name a few. Unbelievable.

I have 3 pairs of Danners- two Rainforests made in USA and the mid-high hikers made in China. Mid-high hikers are two years old and beat to snot. Been great boots, held up awesome for what is basically a tennis shoe.

one Rainforest Danner is 16 years old. I wear them when its dry but, they need soles bad. (3rd time) My other pair is about 6 years old and about due for soles. I wear them alot in cooler weather. They've held up great for me.

I do take care of my boots, oiling and waterproofing. No Gore-Tex will hold up 100% in a shoe forever. THe membrane is thin and the constant rubbing in heals and foot bed wear it out.

I'm thinking of sending my old pair back to Danner. They'll do a new GoreTex and full leather repair and refurbish for something like $100.

There are models still made in USA, Danner factory. Some models are China made, unfortunatelly. You have to look before you buy. American-made ones have a small US flag sticked in one of their seams... :twocents:

I've owned two pairs of Danners.  One for the military and one for hunting. My Macadam style boots lasted me through two deployments to Iraq as an infantryman. I then also wore them for two years of hunting before they finally gave up The ghost. Awesome boot. I now own a pair of Frontiers made by Danner and they are AWSOME. No break in super comfy and m feet stay comfy in temps ranging from 95 down to 10 degrees. Also waterproof all day long. Most of my friends that have been to A-Stan wore Danners. And they were tough enough to last them a year there. Someday when my Frontiers give out Ill most likely buy the Cabelas/Danner. Elk Hunters. When I go to Afghanistan ill have Danner Acadias on my feet again. In my experience and in my buddies experience Danners are tough to beet.
