Slider's Cali Sheep

I got a chance to get away for the weekend and find some rams with Slider this weekend.  After huffing and puffing up steep hills Slider put me on some good California bighorns.  While I won't win any awards with the shots I got, I was able to snap a few pictures that day.  I would guess we saw somewhere between 30-40 sheep total.  There were a number of rams but one stood out above the rest.  I won't venture a guess as to his size but I have a fuzzy long range photo that shows him well enough...

The weekend started a bit scary as i had to be roped off a chairlift at about 40 feet high at Mission Ridge on Saturday.  But all in all the weekend went great with a good day of hunting for sheep on Sunday.  Here's a couple pics from the weeknd:

Something that kind of bothered me...  I shot that ewe picture with a 100-400 f4-f5.6 lens L lens.  See how the background is not completely blurred?  Had I used an f2.8 lens the background "bokeh" would have been completely blurred and what they call "creamy" and her head would have popped out of the photo more. 

Additionally, the copy of the lens I was using was not tack sharp.  There is no definition in the hair on the ram, it sort of blends together.  This is one way you can tell a good lens from an average lens.  I have heard that there are sharp copies of this lens out there.  The other thing I tried to do with the ewe picture is put her head on a power point.
