hello guys...im not terribly new to western wa,,, ive elk hunted around seiku, and the south fork hoh...but im thinking of maybe putting down the bow and muzzleload hunting elk this year.. what can you guys tell me about long beach or long island?.. i dont need your honey hole places,, so im not prying that way... just want to know about accsess and hunter numbers and other such truck....sure would appreciate any know how

i got to looking at hunter numbers and harvest reports for that unit,,,, its fairly high,, sides,, i like looking at new country....

I have to tell you that I think the Long Beach hunt is not an early hunt, I looked around in there this year and didn't even find a track, I hear the late season in there is better, and there is not too much public land out there. Besides I have never seen an area with so many BioHazard signs, it seems like every time you turn around down there there is another sign saying "keep out BioHazard area" or something like that, Not to sure if I would like to eat a critter from a biohazard area. 

Very few places to hunt between the watershed and waste treatment land. I think the numbers you are reading are from the locals, they pretty much have the corner on those elk and I would imagine that the numbers posted in the regs are almost all the same folks every year hunting private property.

As for Long Island, I have never hunted there but it seems to be a real pain to get access unless you have a boat. I guess there are quite a few elk out there but it is hard to hunt them, My buddy tried hunting there one time and the timing has to be perfect with the tide and all that so you can't expect to go there and hunt without doing your homework.

A taxi friend of mine did a bull from Long Island that was 3rd in the state so I'm sure if you are willing to put in the time and effort you could score big !!

Long Island gets hammered hard by people. Its a cool hunt but be prepared to have other hunters around.

thanks guys... thanks for the help...i really love to bowhunt with my 'curve bow... but every season i look at the seven day long smoke pole rut hunt... and i really wanna giver a try.. i guide in montana,, so i never gett too terribly much time to elk hunt for myself..i havent killed an elk for myself in two seasons,,, so i was looking at any elk ml hunts... i may stick to good old sekiu and carpenters creek.... still will take any hints...
