Adictive?
« on: June 30, 2010, 07:36:02 PM »
I put up my first trail camera last week with the idea to let it sit for a couple of weeks.
Well it was eating at me wanting to know if I got any pictures, if I hung the camera in a good spot. After two days I went up and checked the trail camera and was happy to see a few deer pictures on there. That was Sat. When I'm driving down the free way or doing other things that let my mind wander, I'm thinking about the dam camera and mineral blocks I put out, I wonder if I'll have more deer come in because of the mineral blocks. I'm not going to check the camera until its hung for two weeks but I'm relay supprized how much I think about it and want to go check it. It reminds me of a addiction, I have to check the trail cam. Maybee just get 14 cameras and check one a day, that way I get to check one every day and they all get a two week soak. :o

Yes, I just started about 6 months ago and I'm getting to be the same way. I just wish I would've had trail cams 10 years ago before I was married with kids. I just don't have enough time to do it justice. I only have two right now, but hopefully by next year I'll have 8 or 9.   :o

It's like being able to hunt year 'round.

I hear you.  It never gets old and curiousity never wanes.  But, you do get better about it over time.  I like setting up along trails because there is no attractant so I can get a better sense of how often they get used.  And to do that you have to let them sit for a couple weeks at a time.

I have one cam close so I can take my kids to check it for fun.  We get lots of does and little bucks on it and that's great for them.  We put out enough scent in the area that I don't really care how much we bugger it up.

At last count, I'm over 10,000 trailcam photos  :yike:  Here's a little advice - go to Costco and buy a USB HDD just for trailcam pics.  Otherwise you'll be filling up your home PC's hard drive quickly  ;)

...the life of an addict! "Guess what I bought at Cabela's today?"  I say to my best friend,  He replies "another trail camera, how many do you have now?" I say back "Ya, I think I have 6" I try counting them out loud to make sure. He laughs..."you are addicted to this trail camera thing!  Good for me, because I never have to buy batteries!"

My name is Corey...and I am a trail camera addict and I don't care what you think! :lol4: :guns:
