I was in Pullman for a few hazy years :chuckle: as well and hunted the breaks during early muzzy season.  Our group usually took down a decent buck each year but no more than one.  The key was getting permission to come in from the top instead of having to hike up from the bottom.  The whitetails in Albion where some of the bruters though.  Thank goodness for the farmer that gave us permission to hunt his land.

Yeah that certainly makes a difference considering the lack of public land. We never really got ahold of some decent access for deer, but I think we would have been much better served to hunt muzzy or archery. My huntin buddy from WSU has ventured back over there to hunt muzzy season in recent years with consistent success on good sized bucks.

I actually quite enjoyed hunting that area.  No joke we have taken a bull out of the breaks and seen a cow moose.  Forgiving the lack of trophy deer the area is beautiful and full of wildlife.

I hunt 142 as much as I can because I'm somewhat familiar with the land.  I want to get better at finding the bucks because I've seem them spook out of areas.  I just need to learn where to key in on when I'm glassing.  WSU was the greatest place to go to school just based on the deer hunting and smallmouth bass fishing alone!
