Any one else hunting Oregon for Elk this year?
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:48:22 AM »
Hey all, just wondering how many of you decided not to hunt Oregon this year with the Tag increase and all. Im hunting Archery Elk and deer but only because the outfitter I work for down there is buying my tags. Its incentive to be there for the whole month while we have clients. But anyways Im just wandering if any of you will be over on Oregons eastside hunting this year? I think it will be a good season as they got quite a bit of spring rain also. I was over there last week and hung four cameras so we will see what I get here in a few weeks.

I opted out this year but not so much because of the money although it did have a little impact on the decision. Got a new baby boy at home so I thought it would be best not to put that on my wife. I have enough time away planned just hunting WA. I'll be back to Oregon next year :)

good luck to everyone who is going though, I don't want you to kill anything (leave them all for me) but have a great time!! :chuckle:

My brother and I decided not to hunt in OR this year because of the increase in prices.  Our deer, elk, and antelope points will have us hunting there again in the future when this crappy economy turns-around.

Once we burn up our 11 antelope points, I'm not sure we will go there again for deer and elk.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

i found a reallt great spot to hunt but with the hike in price i am 98% sure that i will not just depends on what i turn up if i go do some scoutin a lot of cows and a few very small rag horns last year in the heard all the big bulls were killed before season by poachers but if there is a few nice bull i might, but i got enough money going out in hunting trips or i would do it for sure. any time hunting or guiding is a great time

Going into this year's draw, I had 14 antelope points, 7 elk, and 6 deer points.  I didn't draw a tag.  With the price of elk tags now, I am going to hold out on elk as long as it takes to get a good tag.  I should draw antelope next year, but who knows.  I keep putting in for point savers for deer and will start trying for the Hart Mt muzzy tag in the next few years.  Once my points are gone, I'm done in Oregon.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

Drew Chesnimus tags, won't be buying Oregon points anymore. Have 8 deer points now and once I use them I am done in oregon. Draw odds are to bad for the price for Non-residents.
