The Magnus two blade 125's.  WIth the GT trads carbon 5575s full length.  I think I am shooting a bit light.  I haven't tried any inserts but was contemplating getting a new batch of arrows this morning and trying them.  I haven't done the math or weighed them, but instinct is telling me they are too light.  :)

I'd like to at least hit the 500 mark, so I'll give those inserts a try.  I wonder how much that will change where I am shooting.

Hey if you want your arrow weight up, you might try weight tubes.  They don't seem to work for everyone, but they did the trick for me.  I started with the 3 grain per inch ones, (got my arrow to 525g)  then I went to the 5 grain per inch when I got a heavier bow.  Now my arrow weight sits around 575-580.  Three rivers sells them.

Here is a link if you care to take a look.

You cannot beat beat snuffers or magnus heads. I have taken tons of deer, cariboo, bear and a few elk with them. I have never busted through an elk shoulder but have shot thru quite a few wt deer shoulders ( Not intentional) Head always held up. Shooting heavy birch arrows, aluminum ( 2219)  with 60 lb recurve and long bow. I always touch them up and can get scary sharp. Plus they fly great with no tuning

Try shooting into a piece of wood or hit a rock with an expandable head. Let the bashing begin :chuckle:

Some great elk there elknut

I agree Ribka.  I think they may even have a guarantee on them, but then again I don't know becasue I've never had to worry about it.

Thanks for the link Recurve.

The only elk i've shot was with the 2 blade 100 gr magnus, arrow weight about 375gr (carbon) from a compound 65lb. behind the shoulder, but quartering towards- not the best placement. penetration 18" plus-elk went 100 yds and laid down- total distance traveled about 200yds. so no problem with penetartion, even with the light arrow.

Cow elk with 2 Blade 100 grn Stinger @ 40 yds, almost broadside. 65 lbs (compound), 410 grns total arrow weight. Right behind right shoulder with a COMPLETE pass through, ran approx. 50 yds and dropped. Both lungs and pump station! Buddy, from same stand 2 days later and same time 6:30 a.m.!, with 100 grn Stinger and bigger cow that ran approx 50 yds and down!!! YES! They work on Elk!
