Cam Question
« on: July 26, 2010, 08:55:17 PM »
Im doing some calculations to ensure I'm shooting the correct spine.  One of the things the program asks is what kind of cam I have on my bow.  So here's the questions.  I have a Hoyt Alpha Max 32.  What type of cam do I have.  Here's a picture if that helps.  I'm sure I'll have more questions in a bit.

I believe it depends on your draw length. Go to hoytusa.com then go to "customer service" then download the tuning chart for your bow.

I believe it would be a 2Cam-Hard. But not 100% sure

I have the same bow as you.  Mine is set up at a 29 inch draw.  I'm not expert at this but I've been in the same boat as you pulling my hair out trying to figure out if I am shooting a correctly spined arrow.  I believe the Alphamax 32 is a hard cam bow as far as the Easton charts are concerned.

Ok, it's definitely a hard cam, here's a link on Archery Talk from someone who asked the same question.

Thanks wapitihunter. That helps a lot. There's a link that you can download a lot of the same stuff that TODDID puts out. Its a trial thing so its free. I think you can use it once or twice. When I get Hoke ill post the link.  I do know that its better to have too stiff a spine than too weak. In my case I'm certain that I'm too stiff. Unfortuq nately I probably can't do anything about it since my bow is tuned really well, I'm shooting superb groups and I start flitting school next week so I wont have time to redo my stuff

If your shooting good with both field points and broadheads than there is no need to start changing things. Is that program called On Target? If so I started out with the trial but went ahead and bought the full version - It really helped me dial in my setup.

I can't remember what its Called. Yeah I don't plan on changing anything this year be wise 1 I wont have time and 2 my set up is shooting really good. But next spring ill ha e plenty of time to make any necessary changes. Plus that's part of the fun right, constantly trying to fix what's not broke:)
