i think there is some regulations as far as running gennys up there after a certain hour or somthing like that. you might check into it. i think it is because of risk of fire.

If I cant run it, no big deal. I just need a shower every once in a while. Two weeks beating the brush without one and I will smell myself out of camp.

Do some looking around lost lake,  As you get near the top bare to the right (south) and it should flatten out, take the forks in the roads that take you up against the base of tthe large ridge.  Stop in the thickest timber you can find.  If you can see 10-15 yards or less you are getting warmer.   Work back into the timber till you find the elk trails.  Stay on these to travel and you can be silent.  Move no more than a few yards in 5 minutes or so.  Do this and you will get into the elk.  Use your ears and nose,  if you are paying attention you will smell them before you see them.

If you have a gps . mark where you left the truck.  After you get in the timber there are no features to guide you out.  you might find a road, but it may not be the one you left your truck on....  Been ther done that in this spot before.....

A gal from work was up there Saturday and the buls are starting to sing....

check your maps , if you find a bench 3/4 up a north slope away from roads less than 1/4 mile from water you'll do fine. i look for this pattern in every new area I hunt and go from there , start soft calling from estris to small bull squeel , read the elk and then get more agressive , if your calling the early part of sept expect the bulls to come in quiet . I set up and call for fourty five minutes every five min , then only move 200 to 500 yards and call fourty five  again .if there's a bull in the area he should trigger to the estis cow , he dosn't know when the rut starts he's willing when she is. good luck.coach

Winknot,

My brother an I drew muzzle loader Bull tags for this area this year also (was hoping for the Little Naches; know it like the back of my hand).  I have spent a good deal of time in the Rimrock area summer camping and snowmobiling in the winter.  I have seen enough Elk in it during the past couple of summers to know that there are plenty of them all through out the unit.  Just leave a couple bigns for us.  We will be scouting this weekend as well.

My plan for hunting this unit is to get lucky.  Luck is the point at which hardwork and preparation meet opportunity. :IBCOOL:

I hope you and your buddy both do well and fill your tags with some nice bulls. Good luck to you both. :)
