1st Scouting trip for Chowder Ridge Goat hunt
« on: August 07, 2010, 07:28:43 PM »
Went up to look for goats yesterday.  We glassed a whole pile of them earlier in the week from the road.  Hiked up into the unit to get a better look and the goats were pretty scarce.  Saw five nannies and kids on a ledge way off in the distant but nothing close enough to get a good look at.  Great day on the mountain in beautiful country.  It was very hazy (I believe due to all the fres burning in B.C.) which didn't make for great glassing conditions.  Lots of bugs, marmots and 1 deer.  We were both relieved that we could still hike our sorry butts up there.

Awesome!  I also had problems with the haze the past couple of days, makes glassing hard!  Good luck finding the big billies!

Congrats on the tag!  Nothing beats hunting the high country, having a goat tag is even better.  :)

That looks like some great country!  Even if you don't see anything it awsome just being there  :)
