Back to the drawing board...................
« on: March 12, 2008, 07:50:06 AM »
Well finally got out shooting this week end. Was wanting to work up a load with the Dead Center bullets all with no luck. Started out with 90grs of 777 and a 310 grain bullet.......accuracy sucked dropped down to 85grs  same story. I went back to the tried and true knight sabot under 100grs of 777 and Im right back to a 2-1/2''group at 100 yards. I think Ill just stick to what works. Just wanted to pass the info on. Hope this helps someone.

2 1/2 inch group at 100 yards with an iron sight smokepole doesn't sound like a problem to me. That would mean 4-6 inch group at your max range. I have never been able to get a tighter group than that with an open sight muzzleloader and I get er done.  :dunno: just my 2 cents.

I don't know what kind of rifle your shooting but the knight 310 gr sabots are the best I have ever found for accuracy in a Knight rifle.

I shoot a Knight Bighorn. I didnt mean to come across like I had to get better groups. I was just wanting to see what the Dead Center loads were capable of. My gun didnt really care for them ,like you  my most accurate loads are with the Knight sabot. I do this all the time, get somethiung that works and then I try to go out and re-invent the wheel. Most be my wife rubbing off on me   LOL.
