i have never had any taxi work done. i hunt because it is what i love. I always think the $ it would cost me is a out of state tag or a new rifle......maybe I am screwed up. I just throw them in a pile in my shed......bears stack up in my freezer till someone wants one.

I have a bear rug and bear shoulder mount, but never got anything else mounted.  I shot a (rather nice) moose a few years ago and have the antlers in the garage (although I'll probably put them on a plaque (plack, plak, sp. ?) and stick them in "my" room.  To me, it's about the hunt, to a certain degree.  The moose, although a great animal, was a fairly easy hunt but I've shot some smaller bucks that were extremely tough hunts that I'm probably more proud of - although I'm not getting a 3 point mounted, generally.

I think that if I was to get another mount done (or, more properly, WHEN I get another mount done) it needs to be a combination of a tough hunt and a nice animal.  But that's just me - I don't have any problem with anyone getting anything taxidermy'd for any reason, really.  (First buck, huge bull/buck, whatever).

I want a bear rug.Other than that I don't have much room so the skulls go on a shelve in the garage.

I do all my own euro mounts.  I guess that I should have had a few done up in shoulder mounts but am too cheap to do it.  I personally would rather spend that money on fishing or hunting gear instead of something less functional.  I have had some done in the past but just don't really care any more.  :dunno:  I don't get guys who have absolutely everything that they kill mounted.

Cost is a factor.  That said, I have a Bear 'rug', not a full mount. Would I life size mount a Mountain Lion? Probably not, as my nephew just down the road has his Cougar room with full mount and pool table, (he's also a Wazzu grad, and his Alberta cat is huge anyway), But I just don't really have room for such a mount in my home. Griz/Coastal Brown/Wolf probably would not get a life size mount either. I don't plan on making an addition to the house for any sort of trophy room. I also don't plan on selling/moving any time soon. Would I life size a Fox or Bobcat? Probably. I think I can find room for one of them. Most of my Blacktails are just antlers hung out in the breezeway between the house and garage.  My one decent Whitetail is a shoulder mount. What I do miss are the old metal tags for game. I know I could mark that antlers/skulls with information, but I've got one of dad's Blacktail racks hanging and it has the 1948 metal band hanging off of it. Its just cool.  That right there is 'trophy' enough for me.

I keep saying that I will not shoot another Bear unless it's bigger than the rug I have. That's with reference to mounting a trophy. But that doesn't mean that I won't shoot one for the meat. I'm longing for some jerky and peporoni.  If one of my boys shot a Bear soon, I've got a great idea for a shoulder mount that would cost probably half as much as a rug and be really presentable and fit right in our living room.

Garage for me.  My raghorn and spike elk have fallen into the dog chew toy category.  I will life size my first cougar.  I just need to shoot one first.  I have some nice muleys but I guess I would want something in the top 50 or so in the state before doing a shoulder mount.  Same with elk, except I have only shot below average bulls and cows.

The words, 'south' and 'beaver' do not ever belong in the same sentence. Never!
