Kimber .204 vs Herters U-? 22-250
« on: March 22, 2008, 06:58:50 PM »
Based on the input of you viewers and the poll results I purchased a 22-250 with a Sako receiver and a middle-of-the-road 4-12 Weaver Scope.  I paid $800.00 for this combo and I was pretty excited about the Sako receiver.  This rifle will be primarily for target shooting and varmints.  The tag said Sako but when I saw in faint letters "made in England and Herters Inc Model U-? I was concerned enough about my purchase that I went on to the Sako Collectors site and received several comments that my rifle wasn't a Sako but a Herters with a BSA Receiver.  I asked the gun shop owner about this and he said he thought it was a Sako and he would give me credit, etc.  He showed me a new Kimber .204 pro-varmiter with the stainless barrel but it was without a scope, didn't have the laminated grey stock.  I can get that for $200.00 additional but that probably deserves a good scope.  I'm beginning to think I should stay with the Herters, but something that old bothers me and I'm tempted to order the Kimber gray laminated stock and borrow a scope from another riflefor the time being and in that way I would have a quality and somewhat unusual target/varmit rifle to pass down to one of my boys or grandsons.  Any viewer have any comments about the Herters 22-250 versus the Kimber.204?  I can of course order the Kimber in .204, 22-250 or .223.

Order the kimber 22-250. I have shot one before and they are an amazing piece. You are right though they do deserve a better scope. You deserve a good scope. Did you but it at guns west.
