2010 Raider Pro-Sport 192
« on: August 24, 2010, 02:17:05 AM »
I am looking for a new boat and wondering if anyone has a Raider 192 with a Honda 90 outboard. I am looking at a 2010 for 24,995.00. Just wondering how they handle and if I am going to over-pay for this boat. Any advice and info would be appreciated before I take this plunge. Thanks

Never been in one although I know someone who has one and he likes it.  But for $24k and change you have a buyers market out there on used boats of all types like never before.  Most with low hours and all the toys already in the boat...i.e. GPS/Fishfinders, downriggers (most spendy electric), VHF....etc., etc., etc.  You can put another 5-10k in a new boat easy after you buy just it getting equipped.  A Yamaha T8 kicker is 3k just by itself.

If it were me I would shop.  That's what I did in April and got 3 times the boat for what I spent.  Deals are out there...go look.  I don't think you'll regret it.  :twocents:

Definitely check the used market right now as said above, I see boats on craigslist and in front of houses for crazy cheap prices everyday.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

It would be in your best interest to look around at some used boats but with that in mind i dont think you would be disapointed with the raider. I have the 2272 sea raider and really like it. It may not have the bling of some of the other boats on the market but its a solid boat.

If you dont have to finance go with a used boat, getting financed for a used boat can be really hard. BUT, as for the Raiders boats they are GREAT! I have a buddy that his parents build them outside of Colville and I've been on a couple of them and they handle really well. They are solid, but light at the same time. Good boat, you would be very pleased.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

My brother has a Pro-Sport 182. Its a nice boat, but they don't have a ton of deadrise (vee) so they ride a bit rough.

IMO the 90 isn't enough. His was originally packaged with a 90 and I talked him into a 115 instead. He didn't want to part with the extra dough, but now he is glad he did.

Dealers have a nasty habit of putting the smallest engine that'll work on their boats to keep the price down. Most guys don't bother to ask for a test drive so they don't know the boat is marginally powered. Either that or they'll take it out with the salesman and no gear and it performs ok. They get it home and load a ton of gear and three buddies and the boat become a dog.

Look at the trailer as well. Another dealer ploy is to put the smallest trailer they can get away with under the boat.
