.357 MAG.
« on: August 30, 2010, 03:14:38 PM »
Would a .357 mag. w/ a 180gr bullet be enough for a black bear?

within its range limitations a properly placed 180 grain bullet from a 357 should do just fine on blackbear. I would much perfer a good hardcast 180 grain to any jacketed 125 or 158 grain.

I would not hesitate with mine.  I have an old Ruger Security Six with a 6" barrel that has killed a couple of deer, many grouse and a few rabbits.
I hunt therefore I am.

The federal 180gr loads are the rounds I bought for my S&W .357 mag. 636 w/ 6inch. barrel.  Been thinking about using it for bear, would be a rush I think.
