i've never done it and don't know much about it, but is migration an issue in september?

There are only so many deer and they are scattered over a large area.  The bucks are usually in "pockets" and when you are into them you should see several.  If you don't find any of those pockets, it seems pretty scarce.  The migration isn't typcally an issue during the high hunt.  The weather however can be as it can be unbelievabley hot one day and unbelievable frigid the next.

Exactly what Boneaddict says. It is GREAT BIG COUNTRY! The deer are spread out. They tend to be in pockets. But there are some big boys up there. Good luck!!
