Indian Heaven

Anybody been up in the Indian Heaven/Sawtooth berry field area?   Wondering about the berries in that area/elevation and if anyone has seen any sign or activity.

I was up at Timbered Peak weekend before last and the berries were doing great.  It is about the same elevation as the Thomas Lake trail head.

Weekend before last we went up to the Sleeping Beauty area for berries. They were so,so. the next day we hiked into into our elk area across the Drift Creek canyon just north of Timbered Peak. I felt the berries were better there. Elevation approx 3400 ft.
Can't we all just get along?

Thanks much.   Am planning a trip up this weekend.   Some friends have never been there and are wanting to do some berry picking.   I figured while they did their berry picking, I was going to snoop around and see if I couldn't find a bear.

+10 on the bug spray part.  Me and the boy scouted around up there about the middle of August.  The berries were green and small.  We stopped in near the Surpise Lakes area (but on the white people side) and found one (1) very old and dry pile of scat, but that was all.  I'm guessing we needed to get up into the wilderness area itself where there are fewer people...  The road that day was almost as busy as downtown Centralia...  (Ok for some of you, that isn't busy, but for me, being in Winlock, Centralia is a busy town!)
Of sorrow and sickness I've known on my way,
But I'm old and I'm nervis,
I'm cast from the Service,
And all I deserve is a shillin' a day.
