Maybe you should have to write an essay to be put in for the Incentive Tag:

700-1000 words, double spaced.
Subject:  Why I should draw the Incentive Tag, and what the limitations of the tag are... :chuckle:
I was thinking more along the lines of an Incentive Tag Oath:

I, the proud holder of a coveted Incentive Tag, promise to fully understand the allowable hunting parameters of said tag bestowed on me.  I shall not return to civilization until such time that I have successfully harvested the animal of my choosing.

Whacker you might as well just start the paperwork now. I can put you in touch with an attorney :chuckle:

I too hope he is not offended by all these comments. I know if I was drawn I wouldn't be able to commit the time at this point in my life.

He has lots of time left.....  It isn't something you apply for, just something that happens upon you simply for turning in your harvest reports, which is the intent of the whole incentive tag program.    There has been plenty of guidance thus far on when and where he is allowed to hunt and he will get it figured out.  I just hope we haven't scared him off, because I sure would like to see the pictures of the outcome.

I know that if I ever draw the tag it will be the one occassion where i have virtually no time to get away.  I am sure the Mrs. would not understand a leave of absence from both work and spousal obligations at the Homestead.  I picture it going something like this:
Me: Hello Mom.
Mom: yes,
Me: Mom, what are you and dad doing for the next 4 months?
Mom: why?
Me: Well, i was drawn for the tag of all tags and I need you to come stay with the wife and kids while I hunt for the next 4 months.
Mom: what?
Me: Can I talk to Dad?
Mom: Why?
Me: Well it seems you didn't understand the gravity of the situation, so I want to talk to Dad

Me: Dad, what are you doing for the next 4 months?
Dad: Why?
Me: Well, I was drawn for the tag of all tags and I need you and Mom to come stay with the wife and kids while I try and fill this tag over the next 4 months.
Dad: Explain that again.
Me: Dad I have an Elk tag that is equivalent to what Dan Agnew spends every year on hunting the Governor's tag.  I need you and Mom to watch the kids while I go look for the biggest bull imaginable.
Dad: Huh - I never thought you wanted a divorce so early in life.
Me: Well Dad - I am trying to get you over here to prevent a divorce, can you throw me a bone?
Dad: Well - I will get back to you, but did you talk to your boss?
Me: Yes, I already gave my 2 weeks notice.
Dad: What?
Me: 2 weeks notice for my 4 month leave of absence that could end earlier depending upon the way the tag works out.
Dad: What?
Me: Yeah, weird - He wasn't very understanding either and doesn't know who Dan Agnew is either.
Dad:  So what did he say
Me: He said you better fill the tag quickly or don't come back.
Dad: Of course he did, what did your wife say?
Me: I haven't told her yet.
Dad: So you are getting a Divorce........

I think most of you will agree this is somewhat similar to how it would playout in your families.

Whacker, do you live inside the walls of my house...?

I take it that you have had this conversation about
1. hunting out of State
2. the prospect of drawing OIL
3. the prospect of drawing anything, possibly? :chuckle:

And Yes, just down the hall in a little room dimly lit with a computer screen that has at least two hunting forums up at all times.   :chuckle:

That's easy to say... but in reality, it means losing half your stuff.  And my wife is spiteful.  She would take half my hunting gear.  And I'm not talking about dividing it up and she takes half.  I am talking about her taking all my rifles out to the tablesaw.   :yike:

...and that, my friend, is what occupies a great deal of my time and energy when I am not hunting... :chuckle:
