Stratos boats

Been kicking the idea around about getting the family a fish and ski type boat.  We were down  at Cabela's awhile back and they had a Stratos boat down there that looked pretty nice.  I could take the kids out fishing in it and it had a ski package too.  It came with a 150hp 4 stroke Yamaha motor on it. Anyways I have never owned a boat but thought it would be good to get the kids on the water in the summer, any thoughts?

I owned a Stratos Bass boat for about 10 years and it treated me great.  I live on the Columbia and it could handle whatever I through at it.  Plus you can't beat a Yamaha, which is what is on my new boat, sounds like you found a nice boat.

It looked like a pretty well built boat.  Here's my next question, Like I said before, I'm new to the whole boat thing so can you put a small gas kicker off the back of one of these boats?  I really like fishing potholes and places like that that have trout and walleye and would like to troll a bit.

Had a Stratos bass boat for awhile down south, it was a great fishing boat. You can't beat that motor either.

There is usually always a way to get a kicker attached.  The question is do you really want to drill and bolt into a brand new fiberglass boat?  If buying new I would make sure it has some kind of factory kicker bracket or have the dealer install one before purchase, that way they can warranty it.  Some boat styles while not handle well with a kicker mounted on the back. 

I have never heard anything bad about Stratos boats.  I personally would never go back to fiberglass after my new Aluminum.   But that is what works for me not every one.

Those new Terrova minn kota electric motors with the Ipilot would handle all trolling needs on the potholes. I would do that over putting a kicker on it. But i am also not exactly sure the model of the boat you are talking about. I know some of them have the multispecies models that you can easily attach a kicker motor. Good luck.

That is a great point. My minn Kota does
90% of my trolling plus I love the wireless controls. I only use my kicker for salmon in the current.
