Those are cool.  I lived in Ashland, OR when I went to college and we had one as a pet named 'Killa'.  We kept him for a couple months until we found a preying mantis and put them together.  'Killa' was no match, the preying mantis whooped his butt.  Stood up on his back legs and swatted 'Killa' with his arms and destroyed him.  Now that was cool to watch.

i know its tough to swallow but their are really no brown recluses in washington.....another myth just like the one "baby rattle snake bites are worse than adults"

I truly wonder, I see a lot of spiders around my house and most are just the annoying but harmless brown ones making webs all over the place forcing me to kill them in great numbers but my garage is a different story, I have positively identified many hobo spiders, 1 black widow and a number of brown recluse spiders that apparently don't exist here. I've been bitten by either a hobo or recluse in the past a couple times, the bites took months to heal after developing into about a dime sized sore. Next time anyone wants samples they can empty my shop-vac when I am done cleaning the garage

I was actually surprised to find a black widow a few weeks back at my place east, it's at 3600ft and in the north east part, i was doing some fence work and picked up an older greyed pine log, threw it over my shoulder to carry it to were i was working, set it down and right next to my hand about 1-2 inches was this black/rounded spider, i said to myself "huh, that looks like a widow, grabed my knife and flipped her over to see the red X. we had them all over in cali along with scorpions.

Crazy, the last one I found was while working in the garage and it was right next to my hand when I pulled a shelf out of it's rack, they don't seem to be terribly aggressive. If it had been a wolf spider I would have been bit for sure!

ugh crap I friggin hate spiders I grabbed my coffee cup I had sitting on a log while splitting wood a took a big slurp,   something lumpy when down with the coffee when I swallowed.  I looked into the cup and there was a spider leg twitching, musta been a wounded spider doing laps in my coffee.      I hate em'   But nice photos.
