Took my boy hunting after school today in the area of the Lewis-pacific Co line on Hwy 6. Found three elk that had been poached bones spread everywhere and the hides had been set on fire.

How do you know they were poached? Was it just bones scattered? And nothing says you have to take the bones or hide out with you? I personally dont take the hide out if I dont have to. Just asking

I know that not everyone takes the hide home. These elk were found on the same rd, but not in the same spot and i don"t know of to many hunters that burn the hides and the grass around it. There was only one set of bones with with one hide.

Call WDFW. These days they use forensics regularly.

I contacted WDFW last night and got a call this morning from Pacific Co. wildlife officer. He was in the middle of working another poaching case, but was going to contact WDFW officer from Lewis and go look at the site.

I have some extended family in LaBam that are also hunters. When you find something out, could you let me know so I can pass it on to them?

Steve, I really don't know what they will be able to do (WDFW). If I hear something I'll let you know. Couldn't find that herd anywhere or even any sign.

Poachers aren't affraid to trespass, and my great aunts farm is big enough that they might not even know anyone was.
Do you know where the OxBow dairy farm is?

Um.. How well?
My dad shot his first buck on that farm.. Way back... Pretty much before they had neighbors.

I lived just down the road from it for 6 years. My causing used to work there in high school and I would help him when I was in town. And I used to fish there a lot

well if they were poached, I hope that they will be able to catch the Idiots that did it, although it is not likely anytime soon. now when you say the lewis, would that be GMU 560? just curious because me and my brother have been doin some research on this are to go elk hunting this Nov. we typically hunt far east in the blues But have descided to stay closer this year.
