She once told me her biggest disappointment in me as her child was when I bought a gun and shot an animal.  Still gotta love yer mom.

My Mom gives me grief too.  "How can you shoot those deer? They're so pretty" She'll say that as she's cutting a Pork Chop or carving a Roast. Guess it's OK with her to kill and eat ugly animals only? :dunno:
Must be Mike.  I never got grief for ripping a sharp piece of metal through a fish's face and carving its meat off its bones.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Various bb guns but the first was a single shot 22 that went back to my grandfather when I bought a Ruger 10/22 and then for my 12 b/day in 1977 I got a Ruger M77 270 with a 6x Redfield scope. Bought and sold many guns since then but still have both those. ;)

Daisy BB gun when I was 6 or 8, I don't remember. Got my Marlin .22 for Christmas when I was 12 and went out rabbit hunting that afternoon.

Remington Single Shot .22. My older brother had a Winchester Single Shot .22.  Used them to hunt blue grouse in Colorado when they were really plentiful, while my Dad scouted for Elk.  Hunting grouse in the high country among the golden Aspen trees is hard to beat!  Shot one in the head one time when I was 14 and ran up to retrieve him.  Suddenly he flushed at my feet and flew out of sight.  Must have just grazed him!   :P

On my 14th Birthday my Uncle presented me with an absolutely beautiful Winchester model 64 in 25-35.  He had it restocked with Fiddleback maple but also gave me the original wood with it too.  Also included were 20 boxes of Winchester 117gr FP ammunition.

Kilt my first deer with that rifle and a boatload of grouse.  Still have it and will never part with it.

Daisey Red Rider then a Daisey pump pellet rifle. For first "big boy" guns was a Ithaca 20ga then a .30-06 sold through sears. I still don'y know who actually made though. It was a tough rifle and brought down my first deer. I cried when I had to sell it. :'(

Besides some BB guns..

For Christmas from my Dad.. Model 70 Featherweight 30-06 w/ 3-9 VX-II when I was 12.  He had the floor plate engraved with my initials also.  Best Christmas I've ever had. One of the rifles that I've killed a Blacktail, Whitetail, and Mule Deer with.  Kind of the Washington Deer "Slam"..

First was a Crosman 2100 bb/pellet rifle when I was about 5. I could have filled a pickup with the sparrows and starlings I killed with that thing.

First "real" gun was a Marlin 336 30-30 my dad gave me when I was 9. Shot and killed my first elk with it about 2 months after I finished hunters safety, had just turned 10.

First gun I bought was a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight .270 Win with my income tax return from my first job. Day I turned 18 I went to Big 5 and picked it out.

BB Gun first, first "real" gun was a H&R 410 that I shot a PILE of dove with....that was at 9...then later that year my dad gave me his Win 94 30-30 while he stepped up to a Big Bore 94 375... I also got a 20 ga/22 combo that year from an uncle and then at 11 my dad gave me a Stevens side by side 20... I still have all those guns... At 14 I bought a Rem 721 30-06 from my dads buddy....shot that till 4 yrs ago when I got my Browning A Bolt 06'...

Haven't got rid of a gun yet... there are 5 or 6 I didn't mention that were mixed up in there somewheres!! :tung:
