I saved one summer and my dad bought me a Remington Sporstman 12pump(8700 12 guage.  That gun has seen 7 or 8 thousand rounds between trap shooting, grouse hunting and deer hunting.  It has taken many grouse and 5 deer.  A year later, I got a marlin 30-30 from my Grandpa.  I still have both today and will never get rid of them.
I hunt therefore I am.

Marlin 30-30 that my Uncle gave me when I was 8.  I still ahve it and have shot a bunch of critters with it.  I'm going to replace the stock and give it to my daughter.

Marlin Model 60, black synthetc and blued.
Got it for christmas from my father (mother didn't know until I unwrapped it!).  :chuckle:

She cussed at him all day for it.
Then he cussed all the following day because the first time we tried shooting it, it jammed every darn shot!

Got a thorough cleaning and lubrication lesson after that. I can't honestly remember a single malfunction since then. I don't shoot it much but maybe one or two outings a year, now. Boy, those microgroove marlins can shoot!
I left it better than I found it...did you?
I hunt animals because veggies are too easy to stalk.

In '72 my grandfather gave me his .22 rifle, not sure what brand it is.  He lived in Virginia and we visited him when I was six.  The next summer we came out for his funeral.  About the only memory I have of him is the two of us sitting on his front porch and shooting Pabst Blue Ribbon cans with that gun.  Needless to say, that .22 will always be in my collection.  It was pretty warn with some electrical tape supporting the old stock and a stuck rod in the magazine.  I have thought about taking it to a gunsmith for a refurbish job, but then it wouldn't look the same.

Had bb and pelet rifles early on. My grampa gave me a Marlin singlshot bolt action 22when I was 7, I saved up lawn mowing money the summer when I was 9 and my dad bought a marlin bolt avton 22 with a 7 shot clip. Grampa gave me a savage/steevens bolt acton 3030 for my first deer rifle when I was 12 or 13. Parents gave me a remington 700 bdl in 7rem mag for Christmas when I was 14, I still hunt with that 7 mag.

I don't remember this, but according to my mom, my first gun was the crust of my PBJ sandwich when I was two.  This was a bit disappointing for an anti-gun, former Greenwich Village loft-living hippie chick  :chuckle:  She once told me her biggest disappointment in me as her child was when I bought a gun and shot an animal.  Still gotta love yer mom.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

30-30 Marlin Lever Action, given to me by my grandpa after I passed Hunters Ed when I was 12. He got it as a 1st anniversary gift from my grandma so its about 50-60 years old.

Shoots awesome, I have killed 5 deer with it.

My Mom gives me grief too.  "How can you shoot those deer? They're so pretty" She'll say that as she's cutting a Pork Chop or carving a Roast. Guess it's OK with her to kill and eat ugly animals only? :dunno:
