possible mentorship
« on: September 08, 2010, 02:08:55 PM »
I have never hunted waterfowl, nor does anybody in my family.  I have always wanted to give it a shot but dont want to break out the plastic just yet.  If any of you on near the Island are willing to take a observer with you on a goose or duck hunt shoot me a PM.

Duck's good, you just have to find the right cover scent....    :chuckle:

I actually prefer it in an apple onion curry, yum!

Sorry can't help on the mentoring, unless you can line up some places to go, marsh or shore, as I can't get over there to scout but can bring decoys a gun and a dog.  Occasionally anyways.

Seth,

How far you willing to travel?  I live just north of Everett and hunt at least 3-4 days a week and can get you on the birds and get you so addicted to duck hunting your plastic will melt.  Let me know if you would like to come over.

I love to marinate mine for 24 hours and then use the smoker to turn it into jerky.

I can make it taste just like teryaki. my in laws dont like game meat but couldn't stop eating my duck last year. a little meat tenderizer (msg...) and milk overnight help soften it and mild the flavor before adding sauces and whatnot.

Same here, want to but I don't have any buddies or relatives that go. I love cooking to, so I would experiment like crazy with duck and goose.
