Nice job Brian!
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

OK Ridge, it's been 12 hours since you posted that you got him and still no pics and no story......c'mon man get it up there.  We're all dieing to see your Ram.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.
You are never to old to learn something stupid.

Ok, ok, here are a few pics, story will have to wait just a little while longer, the short version is I had found this ram during scouting  and he was my first choice going into opening day.  There were two others that were also pretty serious contenders.  Not long after first light I spotted my top 3 rams all together feeding.  After looking them over for over 3 hours it was time to make the move.  By then I knew my decision was final, this was the ram I was going to kill.  Just as we were about to get into postion for a shot after our one hour stalk, the rams decided to move and headed away from us just outside my comfortable shooting distance.  I know there are others that probably would have taken a shot but for me on a OIL hunt I wanted the first one to be a good one.  Then began the waiting game in the heat.  After about 2 hours the rams were making any more moves and I was getting impatient watching them.  So a plan was hatched to cut the distance.  That only took about 2 hours as we were in full visibility of the rams for most of it.  Finally we got into position, the only problem was for the next half hour the ram I wanted to shoot wouldn’t clear himself of other rams.  About 4-5 times I was ready to pull the trigger but couldn’t with the other rams behind him or next to him.  Then the rams started feeding away from us, I watched go farther and farther out towards the edge of my shooting distance.  Finally my ram broke free and gave me a shot.  The first shot hit a little low and definitely slowed him down but he was moving away so I took a couple more shots as he ran off missing.  He then bedded down so we quickly moved into position to finish him off, ended up spooking him at very close range and finished him off with an offhand shot as he took off with the other rams.  What a great feeling to have him down and to walk up and grab those horns I’d been thinking about for almost a month.  The hunt and experience was more than I could have ever imagined it would be and to get the ram of dreams was the cherry on top.  There are too many to name but those who helped and gave advice I really appreciate it.  I was joined on the mountain by what I consider the dream team and because of that I’ll be able to relive my hunt over and over again through the unbelievable photos and video we have of the experience.  I think I’ve got sheep fever now though and the last I heard was the best cure was to go sheep hunting again, guess I got to start looking at a Dall sheep hunt in the future.
