My daughter and I have been looking into getting her first rifle. We have decided on a .243 and we also wanted a shotgun so we looked at the Rossi and she liked the look and that it was a single shot.

My question is, does anyone on here have experience with this rifle and shotgun setup and how did you like it? The shotgun portion is the 20 gauge one (as that is what she likes to shoot for fun) and if it is a good setup I might go for the Trifecta .243|20GA|.22 barrels.

I have the .22/20 guage combo for the kids.  It works fine,  Simple to operate and change barrels.  We have just used it for plinking and the open sights on the 22 are basic but functional for a beginner at short range.  I do not know if the trifecta comes with a longer 20 guage barrel.  the downside to the system with the 20 guage is that the barrel is short and light so for kids it kicks.  My kids would rather shoot the 870 in 12 guage for recoil but at the time they could not shoulder it properly.  For the price and the options you get they are very functional.  I would put a scope on the 243 for any distance.  just my opinions.  Good luck.

Thanks for the reply and yes I was going to put a 4x scope on it. One good thing about my kid is she doesn't like to shoot beyond a 100 yds. She thinks sneaking up on things is the most fun part.

Well got the scope mounted and got all set to sight it in and being dad I took first shot just in case something went wrong well something did. It fired and then I could not open the breach. I let it cool and still no opening. The mechanism that you push to open the breach broke inside. So took it back to where I bought it and they are sending it back to Rossi and they are stepping up and getting us another one so my daughter will be ready for the opener.

It was a freak thing and I still have faith in Rossi. Things happen. I will update when the new one comes in and tell you how that one goes.

That is too bad,  thankfully the shop is standing behind it.

A quick update. They ordered a new rifle and they fired it into their sand thing ( sorry brain dead at the moment to remember what its called LOL ) and it fired right off and he was able to eject the casing just fine. So I am off to the range this afternoon to test and sight it in.

Well took it to the range and all I can say is WOW it is a sweet rifle, just hope the 20ga and .22 barrels perform as well as the .243.

Breach was smooth opening and closing like it is supposed to be and my daughter is right on target. we are ready.
