Three days in the woods
« on: September 14, 2010, 10:56:38 AM »
I took my wife out for her first "hunting" trip this weekend to celabrate our 8th anniversary.  It was actually more like a scouting trip.  We camped in the 360 and spent alot of time in the woods.  We were suposedly looking for Bear, Yotes, and Grouse, While scouting for deer.  So we loaded up the truck for a 3 day weekend.  I was pretty disapointed in the amount of game we saw, or did not see.  After 3 days in the woods all that we saw were three does.  This is the first time that I have gone up there when I have not seed a single grouse.  Despite the lack of game we had a great time.  Mainly I wanted to get my wife comfortable carrying her rifle in the woods.  We had a great time, and she is looking forward to the general deer season.  I will say that that it takes alot more willpower to get me out of bed when my best friend in the world is sleeping in my arms.   ;)
There's a reason they call it hunting, not killing.

Especially when it's cold out and the fart sack is nice and cozy.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Just drink alot of water before bed and you will crawl your ass out or piss your pants. :chuckle:

The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Don't forget to put your rangefinder on a lanyard when you take her hunting or you will lose it when she shoots a deer.  I KNOW.   :bash:
Take your kids and train your future competition.

Sounds like a great time. We are planning to do the same thing next weekend, probably over in the Little Naches area. I need to try and get my wife half way comfortable not hiking on a trail or at least going off the trail.
