Ethical question
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:49:28 PM »
I know it's not ethical to shoot a sow with a cub but, if you had 2 bear tags, is it ethical to shoot both the sow AND the cub?  Your thoughts.

I personally wouldnt want to, but if the situation persented itself, I had shot the mom, then noticed the cub and I had the tag, I might just take care of the situation.

I could always use slippers... :chuckle: :'(

Personally I wouldn't do it. I just don't think I could shoot a cub, to me it would be like shooting a fawn. I hold off on smaller bears as well. I just dont think there is really that much meat to gain by shooting a cub

You call that one "barbecue size".

If it were a situation where I shot momma not knowing there was a cub present, then saw the cub.... I actually might, only for the reason that survival chance might be bleak for the cub, and would rather it not suffer and starve to death........   :dunno:  I think that would be the only situation that I MIGHT consider it, but like others said, that's just my opinion, they are your tags  :twocents:

I wouldnt, not because its cold-blooded or anything, but more because at the time, I dont think you can techincally have that 2nd tag. I could be mistaken, but don't you need to fill your first before you can get your 2nd?

....I gotta admit though, having a real teddy bear for the girlfriend would be pretty sweet

That fawn thing though.... no.

Its your choice..If you want to blow a second tag on a cub go for it.Is it unethical,, hell no..What would be unethical??Your tag use it if you want to..If not,,the cub might make it..No different than shooting an cow with a calf, or a doe with a fawn...
