All I can say is that if I had the money to throw at the Gov/Auction tag I would do it in a heartbeat!! No jealousy here....just simple envy!

I already said it once but it's worth saying again....AWESOME BULL!!!!!!!

I used to be against the gov tag thing until I realized something.

These tags cost a lot of money and that money goes to the states wildlife funding, therefore helping us regular guys out. Also, You cant say that it wasnt  fair chase hunt, or that it was an easy hunt because he paid a bunch of money to have the best tag in the state. Just because someone says it on the internet doesnt mean its true... and lastly, he is just a guy that like to kill big bulls, and has the opportunity to do so, can you blame him?

Congrats on another smoker bull Mr. Agnew

BEAUTIFUL BULL! don't really have an opinion on the gov. tag. I guess I'll take the good with the bad; sit back and wait for my chance at a monster bull. ;)

That is one big damn elk!  In my dreams I have shot at one just like him many nights  :chuckle:  In all seriousness though, there are a LOT of big animals in Washington, elk and deer and we have an amazing resource right out our back doors.  The problem for most of us is that we juggle work/social life/family and hunting and just don't have the time to put in the effort it requires.  If I had the money I would be all over it.

Besides I would rather see someone shoot the bull and pay $50K for it than see it poached or otherwise mysteriously disappear.

every time you buy a beer in oregon or eastern wa dude gets paid...

I initially thought it was a different Dan Agnew.  I saw that link as well.  The Dan Agnew I was thinking of is president of The Agnew Company, which is primarily a timberland ownership Company and owned much of the land around the Centralia Steam Plant / Coal Mine operated by TransAlta.  I think much of his money was made by timber dollars and mine / mineral leases, etc.

So upon further research it appears to be the same Dan J Agnew that is involved in both the beverage distributor as well as the Timber company.

So he should host a hunters pikanick and supply the elk steaks and beer... :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.
