Welcome Mark. I haven't been since I was 12 years old, but really thinking about it this year. When I was younger my dad took me in the Chelan area where my grandparents lived, but can't remember where. I live in the seattlearea and not really sure of the closest place from here or just going to the Chelan/Wenatchee area and hope to run in to an area I can hunt.

Hi Mark!
I just started upland bird hunting a couple of years ago, (quail, pheasant, grouse). As far as how my last season went, well, let's just say that I had a lot of fun with my brother and his dog! I've wanted to try chukar hunting for a while, and hopefully will get the chance this year. My brother moved to the Banks Lake area, and has been scouting out some good spots. So, it will all depend on financing the gas money to get over there!
Good luck to you, and welcome to the site! Post lots of pics!

I hunt them from the truck after stumbling onto a secret about 15 years ago. A friend at WDFW didn't believe me until I showed him. He said don't tell anyone about this. I replied you do the same, as we both limited in less than an hour.
They are out there, we have had huge flocks walk up looking us in the eye 6 inches away, while camoed and calling.

I see alot of chukars when i am out in the feild but I dont hunt them. They usually jump up and scare the hell out of me and then they set there wings and land clear across the cyn. I am not 2 sure why anyone would want to hike for 2 hours just to jump em and watch fly a 1/2 mile away. That is one bird that will turn anyone into a Mt. man, what a hardy bird to hunt!

This was taken down hill, notice the angle of the tree at the bottom
I ended up scaling some cliffs up the canyon from this (somehow my lab made it up too) and got on top of the bluffs then hunted down to this "easy" spot to traverse down again. Love them little guys!

Last years season was a lot of boot leather, tired legs, burning lungs, some muscle cramps, and a stuck truck. Saw some guys opening day that did very well and went in the same area later in the year and saw no birds. When you do get in them the shooting can be fast and furious.
