holester failed, need opinions on a new one

had a cinnamon bear come out of some salmon berrie bushes yesterday,I went to pull my 44 mag smith and Wesson model 629 classic and it wouldn't come out..a cub and then another cub came out also, they were both black.momma did some swatting and away they went...So back to the holster. It seems the front sight wore a hole in the liner of the uncle mikes holster and it wouldn't budge.I cut the end of the holster off and finally removed it...Its been an awesome holster till now...oh I had a the trusty 30-06 with me..thinking on going leather, but I liked the nylon or what ever the other was made of.But foresure I don't want that probelm again

I have an old leather mil-spec duty holster that I found on E-bay.  It is marked USAF and very heavy duty, works great.  Only problem is it is for a 4” barrel so I have the same issue with my 6” 629.  Fabric holsters always sag and tear after awhile.

I have used the older model of this for the last 25 years for my Rugers.

I don't know that I like the newer model, as it has too many shoulder/back straps. But you might like the other leather products they make.

Here's an optional strong side/crossdraw holster that you might like.  http://nelsonleather.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_35&products_id=196

I do have some of the Uncle Mike's stuff, but I prefer leather as it just breaks in and feels more comfortable to wear.

Go leather. IMO Uncle Mikes is nothing but Garbage. I've had some over the years and they do "in a pinch" but basically they just suck.

I'm not sure if they may a holster that will work for you, bit I can highly endorse Pacific Canvas & Leather products.   I recently bought the M-7 Tanker holster for my 1911.  I used about half a bottle of leather conditioner on it and it is nice and soft now.
Nothing witty here.... move along.

It's not the holster, it's the pistol. Give it to me as it will give you nothing but trouble from here on out.

Don't file the sight!  I think this is good reason to buy a new gun.  :chuckle:

i have had nothing but good luck with uncle mikes :dunno: and i run them with a ton of my handguns. i had one do what you had happen to me with the front sight post. it was a old 22 the front sight was very pointed and caused a snag in the holster. so i got a diffrent holster for that handgun. but i own around 10-12 of them. if it has been a good holster for you and you like it. they are pretty cheap for 15-20 i would buy a new one. but thats just me. :IBCOOL:

I kind of agree with this...pretty drastic measure.
