Nova vs. Super nova

I really like the Benelli nova. My dad bought kids shotguns on our 18th birthdays. My youngest brothers recieved the Nova. I really like the gun and was thinking of getting myself one. Is the super nova worth the extra cash considering the fact that I  plan on taking it duck hunting? I've never shot a super nova.

If you hunt water fowl the 3.5 is just about mandatory(steel shot), if no waterfowl, either will work.

 I shoot a super nova myself. The gun is basicaly the same, if the nova fits you then save a buck, but the super nova alows for the stock to be shimmed to fit pull and drop. The super also has wieghts in the stock that reduce recoil, these wieghts can be added to a plain jane nova. Other difference is the triggar gaurd on the super is bigger so it can be shot easier with gloves.

Well I have to disagree with the 3.5 inch statement, plenty of ducks and geese are killed with a 2 3/4 or 3 inch steel shell. I personally don't see much of an advantage in the 3.5 inch shell, it only allows you to put more shot in the air (which isnt a bad thing), but they do kick a lot more and may not pattern as good as the shorter shells.

BUT... none of what I said matters because both the nova and the supernova shoot 3.5 inch shells, so you can shoot any shell you want. Personally I would go with the supernova if you can save up the extra cash, the comfortec stock that is comes with (basically the only difference between the two guns) does reduce some recoil from what I have seen on my M2. And from the supernovas that I have seen, most dont have the rattle in the forearm like all of the novas do.

So if it were me, go with the supernova, its probably one of the best pump guns out right now.

The comfort-tech stock is very nice and a shotgun that doesn’t fit you is practically worthless.  I’d spend the extra $.

I have both nova's.  The comfort tech stock is nice, but mine blisters when wet then goes back to normal when dry.  Same as on my SBEII.  I believe the only difference that I notice between both novas is the stock.   Everything else looks to be the same.  I did place a mercury compensator in the standard nova to displace some of the kick.  Both those guns just sit idle these days.
