I was headed out near republic. Had the trip planned for 2 years. One by one our group dropped out due to finances or time off difficulty. It was down to me and my brother and he just cancelled due to work reasons as well. Needless to say very disappointing. So I decided to go to entiat myself this year. Sounds like its going to be pretty crowded. Going to have to hike it out beyond the other hunters. Anyone want to join me? :'(

better avoided all the lower entiat unit if you want to hike anywhere. You would just be hiking past another road.

Wow .......you ain't kidding UBA. Just looking at the Topo for that unit. Hmmmm.....maybe I'll go more towards chelan. How are the rattlesnakes out there around season opener. Its going to be warmer than most years it looks like so I better wear my snake boots.

I have seen around twenty rattlers in the valley this season however they have all been on the roads while driving. I have yet to see one while hiking. There are not many places in the lower valley that are very far from a road.  I wouldnt let that discourage you thou and i wouldnt worry about the snakes. There are still deer to be had and places to hike.

Mud creek and Potatoe, and all of lower Entiat is a dam zoo. I'll stay away for opening weekend. Last time I went, their were guys stopped in the road with four guns out for a stupid spike!!! Plus we had guys go barging through our camp after a two point we had hanging around. Some people don't give a crap. No thanks..
