Great story and nice bull.  It sounds like you were in the same country as we were, we killed one on the 4th but were into them hard on the 2nd and 3rd close to several big rosies but couldn't seal the deal.  Like you said the vine maple and thick stuff was always a factor. The one we got was nice 5 on one side and looked like he only grew two foot long eyeguards without the main beam.   Hope you can post the video, can't wait to see the action. ;)

Does that style muzzle loader leave the primer exposed?  I'm not familiar with the bolt action models.

pods8 - I shoot a Traditions Evolution Long Range .50 cal.  The musket cap is exposed.  There are other models where the cap is concealed.
